The International Rail Freight Conference about rail cargo transport between Asia and Europe was held in Clarion Congress Hotel Prague on 4th - 6th March 2009. The conference was organized by the JERID Company, under the auspices of the international organizations UIC (International Railway Union), OSJD (Organization for Cooperation of Railways) and IBS (Community of European Rail Forwarders).

The conference program was divided into the nine thematic sections. The theoretical part was aimed mainly at the legislation, interoperability and the role of international organizations in the transport development between Europe and Asia. Representatives of both European and Asian railways and forward companies informed participants about their existing experience with the transcontinental transport as well as future projects they are currently working on. The presentations concerning technical possibilities of particular corridors and terminals bring also a lot of interesting information.

The third conference day was devoted to the excursion of the production plant Škoda Auto and the Škoda Auto Museum.

This international conference was designed mainly for the employees of railway companies, forwarding agents, owners of railway cars and railway freight transport users. The lectures, divided into the several topics and lumped to the full conference program, were presented during two conference days by 36 lecturers from 15 European and Asian countries for 148 participants from 20 countries worldwide. The most distant participants were the members of Chinese delegation, who significantly contributed to the program with their lectures. All the lectures and discussions were held in the English, Russian and Czech languages with simultaneous interpretation into other languages.

The Conference met with a great success on the part of lecturers as well as participants. All of them appreciated high expertness of presentations in the particular sessions and possibility to meet with top managers from line of business of railway freight transportation from many European and Asian countries.
